In the VAC Vault Space
1800 Store Street
Wednesday – Sunday, noon to five
12 April – 28 May 2023
This iteration of the Vault space shows a combination of print media and mural illustration. Bailey’s vault installation depicts scenes drawn from surrealist philosophy and imagery, living on Coast Salish territory and in urbanized environments, as well as personal spirituality and worldbuilding. Bailey’s installation will be shown alongside her Grandmother’s (Avis Rasmussen) retrospective allowing the viewers a chance to see how her practice and work has been influenced by, and where it differs from, Avis’s.
Bailey Rasmussen is a Canadian Printmaker and Illustrator. Her work is recognizable by the distinct characters and a combination of lowbrow/highbrow and contemporary/historic genres. She is currently studying at Emily Carr University with a focus on print media and art history. Her work has been shown in Canada and the USA.
