About the Artist and Work:
Pronounced “Vel-toon”, and translating roughly to “Partridge” in Dutch, Ashlea’s passion for birds shows in both her name and her work.
Ashlea’s art is bright, colourful and joyful, celebrating birds, wildlife, pets and elements of nature that are sure to delight anyone that loves these subjects. Watercolour, digital media, graphite, coloured pencil and acrylic paint can all be found in her work.
Ashlea has an education in Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences, Ornithology and nature education and values sustainability in her art. All of Ashlea’s prints are completed on recycled cardstock. Her packaging is minimalistic, and in upcycled, recycled, reusable and recyclable depending on the type of packaging used.
Ashlea’s art cards are almost all in postcard format to reduce the overall use of paper in her process. These postcards are all made in standard sizes to allow her customers to easily frame her prints if they so choose. Ashlea is also periodically available for commissions.
