About the Community:
Firstly, we would like to thank the Victoria Arts Council for making this art show happen for our homeschoolers. We are a creative group, and as homeschoolers, we don’t have many places for our art work and creativity to be publicly displayed and appreciated. Thank you for this opportunity.
There are a large number of homeschooling families in Victoria (and the CRD). We are an active and vibrant community, where we have weekly meetups, field trips, and workshops that we get together to do.
The Victoria Homeschool Community embraces younger siblings (non school aged) to join the activities as we strive to be family oriented. Homeschooling for our group is not just a choice of education but also a lifestyle that allows us to form deep familial connections, friendships and community connections with each other and with organizations through activities such as the Victoria Arts Council Art show at the Saanich Centennial Library. Bringing people together is a huge part of what makes homeschooling a success. Libraries are an important resource for us as homeschoolers and a gathering place for community. We hope that through our public art we can bring more people together.
This art show is comprised of art work from kids 2 years old to 13 years old, from homeschooling families all over the CRD. We hope that everyone enjoys the art show.
