About the Artist:
I graduated with a Diploma in Fine Art from the Vancouver Island School of Art (Victoria, BC, Canada) in 2010. I have exhibited my painting and fibre work in Canada and the US for the last 25 years. My life before art took over was based in library science (BLS, University of Alberta) and business (CMA/CPA Alberta).
I am a founding member of arc.hive artist-run centre in Victoria, BC, https://arc-hivearc.org/ and regularly participate with the Vancouver Island Surface Design Association.
Artist Statement:
Murmur
Murmurations of birds fascinate me, and I wanted to capture the thrill that I get when I see them. The main inspiration was an experience I had at a marsh in New Mexico when I was able to capture the birds on video.
Cellular Explorations: Airborne, Groundwork and Tidepool
This project was inspired by images of microscopic organisms. I was imagining what lay in the ground, the air and water beyond the naked eye.
