UNTIL 8: Relationships

For the upcoming Winter 2021 issue of UNTIL, the theme will be Relationships with special Guest Editor Lorilee Wastasecoot

Relationships are important to the well-being of our communities, and our relationships with those around us are important now more than ever. But what about the relationships we have to this place?

While some of us may be spending more time by ourselves being socially distant in Lekwungen territory how are we being respectful as we walk upon these lands? What are some of the stories that you connect with that come from this place specifically?  What are our responsibilities after hearing those stories and how are we practicing reciprocity within those relationships through our educational, curatorial, and artistic practices?  Are there certain things (places, people, art, it can be anything) that you connect with on this land that inspires you to create a poem, a song, a video, a sculpture, beading or a piece of art outlining how we can go beyond territorial acknowledgements to create something tangible or intangible from the inspiration this place gifts us? What is something that you want to share?

The Victoria Arts Council is seeking submissions of literary works (poetry, prose, essays, and non-classifiable texts), visual art, moving image, and audio / musical arts to include in the upcoming issue of UNTIL Issue 8: Relationships

Please send us your art as either Word, Pages, PDF, Jpeg, PNG, GIF, MP3, MP4 or .MOV to be considered for this special issue of UNTIL… to be published in Winter 2021.

  • Artist statement as it might relate to the theme (max 500 words)
  • Title, date, medium, and year of work
