Artist Statement:
I have always painted with bright colors, and love to create whimsical images, that evoke an atmosphere of memories, and emotions for the viewer from a time in their own lives. Seeing people smile while looking at my paintings, is the biggest compliment to receive. A woman at a show I participated in, said to me, “This one of the harbour reminds me of home.” She hadn’t been back to Nova Scotia for many years, and it touched that emotion in her.

I have participated in the LOOK SHOW with the Victoria Arts Council for many years, and have shown my work in cafes here in Victoria. I am a current member of the Victoria Arts Council.

My influences are Maude Lewis, of Nova Scotia, Adam Young, of Newfoundland, E.J. Hughes, and Linny D Vine of Victoria, BC.

About the Artist:
Born, and raised on the prairies, have lived east to west, now residing for the last 20 years in Victoria, after retiring as Magazine Production Manager with the Globe and Mail in Toronto. I have always been artistically inclined, and drawn to art galleries, and other artist’s techniques. Studied sketching, and caricature at George Brown College in Toronto. I took up painting on a more regular basis after moving to Victoria, after being encouraged by friends to continue.
